What is your best advice for someone who's just starting to learn photography?

I've just started I have a digital Olympus D565, anyone have any good advice for me?What is your best advice for someone who's just starting to learn photography?
OK I am a good fan of Olympus cameras. But What I want to tell you that you should start your photography with manual film camera because this camera will help you to create good idea about lighting, focusing, fov etc. Then go for digital camera which is automatic one. With a digital camera you can get a good picture without any effort and nothing to learn about.

You should creative in this field. What is your best advice for someone who's just starting to learn photography?
First, get to know your camera by studying the manual and by taking lots and lots of pictures as you're reading it (and obviously review the results).

Second, as your skills increase, I highly recommend the book on this review page http://www.outdoorphotoguide.com/gadgets鈥?/a>
I suggest that you just experiment and find what works best for you.
have a steady hand and take your fingers off the flash.
Since it is a digital camera take as many pictures as you can so you can get a feel of what you like and don't like in your pictures. You can easily delete the pictures you don't like and take more trying out your cameras different settings. Remember to save or print the pictures you like. You can easily do this at Walgreens.com or snapfish. Then get help from people such as a clerk at Walgreen's or other photofinishing business (they usually are happy to help and are knowledgeable)
you can read information from http://www.dpreview.com/ a good site with a lot of explainings.Good luck!
first of all read the manual thoroughly so that you know where to find each and every feature your camera has to offer. do a lot of shooting. take a long and hard good critical look at a lot of photographs by famous photographers.
yup buddy... as u hav got nice digital Olympus cam, try to take pics of everything dat u find, may b a glass jar or a distant lamp post.then have a glance at all of them...and u would be able to differentiate them..u will learn ur self from them....
Most photography classes will make you start with film, but will give you a good understanding of how aperature, shutter speed, exposure compensation, ISO, grey scale and ambient light conditions all play into getting a good photo. I think you can actually learn faster with digital because you can instantly see the results and you're not worried about the cost of film and processing. However, to do that, you have to have a basic understanding of all the previous terminology. If your camera has manual control, the owners manual should explain these basics, or you can read info online or at the library. I don't have any specific book references as I took a class and then started teaching myself. Play with multiple settings of the same picture and see which results turn out best.

In a nutshell, aperature (f-stop) is the size of the hole the light is passing through with bigger numbers being smaller holes. Shutter speed is measured in fractions of a second. You have to have the right combination of these two to get a proper exposure. Modern cameras have a built in light meter that can automatically place these in the proper ratio. Changing the numbers, but keeping the same ratio is called an equivilant exposure and can be used to change depth of field (how much of the photo is in focus) or to stop or show movement. When lighting is difficult or you are trying to get a specific effect, a manual camera can alow you to override what the camera thinks the exposure should be.

If you don't want to take the time to learn all of that, diffuse outdoor light (like dusk, dawn, or an overcast day) with an auto setting should give good results. Backlight and high contrast are very hard to shoot and will almost always turn out poorly (unless you WANT a silhouette) using auto settings. The more manual control you have and use, the better you can make the best of difficult light settings, but it often takes multiple shots to find out what the best will be - hence the advantage of digital.

As far as photo composition - that is all in the eye of the beholder. Shoot what YOU like and try lots of different things to see WHAT you like.

Have fun!
read as many books as possibble and check your local college for any short courses in photography. It really helped me find my niche and discover more about photography and better understand it. Be reminded that not all are good or great at photography and what is good to your eye might not be to others, but stay strong to your eye, for there is always someone who sees beauty as you do.
I took non-credit courses at the local community college. I was taught how to use a camera (SRL 35mm and other formats), darkroom techniques, and photo retouching. The classes were inexpensive and had only a limited number of pupils
I work in a photo center and by playing with cameras all day, I can assure you that an Olympus camera is an excellent choice. You will get awesome pictures from it. If you are not the type of person to sit down and read the owner's manual then just play with the camera as much as you can. I tell people all day long that I can stand there and tell them how to use a camera but they really won't learn until they play with it themselves.

Also, I've heard through the grapevine that Sam's Club and Walmart are holding a Camera Seminar type thing once a month and it is an opportunity for people to bring in their cameras and a photo technician will assist them with using it.

You may also want to try the Olympus Web site. They may have something on there to help you also.

What is your best advice for choosing fabric/patterns/colors for a quilt?

I'm taking a quilting class and need to choose five fabrics. What is your best advice for choosing fabric/patterns/colors for a quilt?
First I select my ';to-die-for'; fabric (often called a ';focus fabric). As in Harry Potter it's not so much that I select the fabric, but the fabric selects me! Then I choose fabrics with different patterns that have coordinating colors. Five is an easy number - if you are limited to three you have to be careful not to have to use the same fabric for two different elements that end up touching each other. I recommend selecting three patterns with coordinating colors: one large, one small, and one anywhere in the small to medium-sized range. Select your remaining two fabrics from ';plain'; fabric - kind of a small, all over pattern (such as blue with silver flecks). I almost never use solids because they don't interest me and you will find every single stitch shows in lighter solid fabrics. Have fun in your class! What is your best advice for choosing fabric/patterns/colors for a quilt?
My very best advice would be to go to your nearest quilt shop and ask one of the staff to help you out - they are almost always all quilters themselves and LOVE to help new quilters pick fabrics.

If that's not possible, here's my next-best advice. The most interesting quilts usually have fabrics in a range of scales (large to small), colors (hues like red, green, blue, etc.), values (light to dark) and textures (solid-color or almost to textures that look like burlap or lace).

One approach is to first choose a 'focus fabric', which should be a print with at least several different colors in it. If the quilt is earmarked for a specific room, pick your focus fabric accordingly, otherwise just pick something you'll enjoy working and living with. Along one of the selvedges are groups of dots of different colors - these are all the different colors that were actually used in printing that fabric (you'll be surprised how many there are sometimes). You can use those dots as guides to help you choose coordinating fabrics. For example, say your focus fabric is an iris print in purple, yellow, and green on a white background, and it has dots of light, medium and dark purple, light and medium yellow, and 3 shades of green in a medium to dark range.

You could use a dark purple print, a light yellow print, a medium green print, and a white-on-white print as your fifth fabric. Look at your fabrics from at least 3-5 feet away when choosing - they look very different than they do up close. And don't worry if colors don't match exactly - it makes for a livelier quilt if they don't. In fact, a common sign of a 'first' quilt is that it's too 'matchy-uppy' (now THERE'S a technical quilting term for you!).

Most of all, relax and have fun!
Light, medium and dark are the usual categories.

Choose a few of each and lay them together to see what you like.

The dark colors will pop and the lighter colors will recede. Medium helps to balance the two opposites.

What's the best advice you can give me when I go to my job interview?

I have a job interview on Friday for a clerical position in the county courthouse, so does anyone have any tips they can give me? I would really appreciate your help, thanks :)What's the best advice you can give me when I go to my job interview?
Make sure you are dressed appropriately, with no short skirt/top. Look professional, be polite, smile and act confident - even if your not. Try and ask questions about the job/courthouse etc / DONT ask about holidays - not at this stage anyway. Try and relax and remember this isnt just about them seeing if you are right - its also about you deciding if you want to work for them. So go for it - and good luck - I hope you get it x

  • What is your best advice to surviving freshman year at high school?

My friend and I are going to DIE please hlepWhat is your best advice to surviving freshman year at high school?
Just be yourself, and don't let anyone get you down. I was made fun of a ton my freshman year. About half way through the year, I became friends with a couple of ';popular'; (once you are out of high school, you will realize this never meant anything) seniors, and that really helped. Good luck, you can get through it, just remember, the real world, after high school, is totally different. What is your best advice to surviving freshman year at high school?
No one likes the loud mouth freshmen who think they are cool. If you were popular in middle school, it is more likely that you won't be once you get to high school, unless all your 8th grade class is the whole freshmen class. Don't be a hard *** or a loud mouth no one likes those. Stay out of trouble, don't do stupid stuff to ';fit in.'; Act mature.

What's the best advice you can give to a high school junior about the college admission process?

I'm looking for advice concerning SATs, keeping grades up/studying habits, extracurricular activities (how much?), the Essay, pretty much staying sane this year, and, ABOVE ALL, how to go about finding the right school.

Thank you!!What's the best advice you can give to a high school junior about the college admission process?
    1. Don't do extracurricular activities just to impress people. It will distract you from things you would rather be doing, including enjoying your youth. On top of that, admissions counselors are trained to see through this, and if you are spread too thin without enough depth, they will not be impressed.

    2. Your rank in class and your SAT scores are far more important than everything else. Just work hard in class and everything should fall into place. The essay is remarkably unimportant in most cases.

    3. For staying sane, remember that there is no one right school. There are over a thousand colleges and universities in the United States, and there will be a lot of them where you can get a good education and enjoy yourself.

    4. For finding the right school, if you have the time and money, visit a bunch of places. Get a feel for the different styles of schools - big state universities, small liberal arts colleges, private universities, and depending on your subject of interest, perhaps consider some specialized schools.

What's your best advice for studying for exams?

I have semester exams coming up pretty soon and I've got a bunch of stuff to cram for. What's your best studying advice and any methods/places you like to use when studying for a big test? What's your best advice for studying for exams?
One thing that i have always done that helps is typing up my notes from class. This helps me review the concepts I learned in class, and gives me time to look up anything that i did not understand, and add it to my notes for future reference. Also, writing something out by hand or typing, i have found to to help remember things. Something about seeing the words helps.

As far as places go. A quiet place is always the best, but i know some people like to listen to music... when memorizing, quiet places help.. but when i want to be creative and write i like to listen to some light music. What's your best advice for studying for exams?
Study in a place with no distractions, like in a library. My method was to commit to totally understand the subject matter. I would say to myself that I will not quit until I understood it all. Repetition of key statements helped me out a lot also. Read things over and over and over with the intent of 'getting it' . Be positive and say to yourself that if anyone else could get a great grade on the exams so could you.
i have a hard time studying because i get distracted easily. look for a quiet place to study and maybe listen to music so u dont get bored. also writing things down multiple time helps u remember them. a good place to study would probably be a park or somewhere outside and peaceful. good luck w ur exams!
    Um, 1. Get Rest

    2. Don't Stress

    3. Eat Breakfast

    4. Check over your material you've been studying, and take some notes to sum it all up, think of any numonic devices to help you remember the tuff stuff. ( e.x. - songs, short sayings, rhymes, storys, anything to help you remember )
what i do is divide the number of chapters by the number of days before the exam so you dont freak yourself out by doing all of it the day before the exam. ex: read ch. 2 on monday, do ch. review questions tuesday etc.

also make it fun, have friends over and start a study group!

    goodluck:]
i just sit on my bed and read hard, it your exams are pretty soon then i wouldnt give myself breaks

if not, give yourself like 15-30mins breaks, have something to eat, go on the internet or something then continue
    * Read over your notes

    * Try to make questions out of things %26amp; answer them

    * On the exam. Do what you kno first then do things you might kno then do things you dont kno last. I'm pretty sure it will help you.

  • What's your best advice to getting back to your natural hair color...?

I'm currently trying to get back to my natural haircolor with about 4 inches already grown out. My hair contains years and years of dye (but no bleach). I'm torn between having a corrective color done, having my hair stripped, or simply letting is grow out and cutting the old color off gradually. I have long hair so I want to keep it healthy without sacrificing length. The current color is only a few shades away from the natural color, but there is a somewhat noticeable difference. Any suggestions or alternatives? What's your best advice to getting back to your natural hair color...?
If your hair grows fast just let it grow.. if it takes a while to grow I'd probably dye it as close to natural as you can get and then let it grow.. of course its your call and it would really depend on how you feel about it if you're not bothered by it being two toned, leave it.What's your best advice to getting back to your natural hair color...?
have your hair colored to match your natural color and then it will grow without the signs of regrowth. If you use a demi permanent color it will not damage your hair
I would go to a good colorist. My first thought is that having a corrective color done would be your best bet. A good colorist can do wonders though, maybe just with blending highlights.
i sugges u find the same color as yur hair color, if u take a picture of just yur natural hair color i could help u find a color matching. once u have the color dye yur hair with it and then when yur hair grows out it will be the same color so u dont have to dye it anymore.

    email me at

    angelfire12343@gmail.com
Either color your hair using semi or demi permanent colors that fade but won't leave that nasty line between the colors, until your hair grows out, or have fine sparse highlights/lowlights put in that are between your natural color and the color that is growing out. That way it all blends together, and highlights grow out nicely when fine and sparse :)
there was a time where i had really damaged hair mine actually had been dyed then bleached then dyed 3 more times.. my hair was gross. the only solution was to grow it out. luckily my hair was short so i could cut out most of it. but it look a while to grow out but it is the best choice because the hair that grows in is so healthy. i suggest using hair cholesterol to help the hair stay as healthy as it can be because healthy hair will grow. damaged hair does not
Grow it out. Then if u ever dye it again like just do highlights or something not to different if u are sure u will want to go back to natural again. u will go through and awkward stage 4 a little before it looks the same again. but it won't be bad. I prob wouldn't even notice
Stripping is EXTREMELY harsh on your hair, even when done by a professional. My best advice would be to either have corrective colour done, or to just let it grow. (I know this is a little esoteric, but if you get your hair trimmed right before the apex of the full moon, it WILL grow faster [and fuller/thicker], so that might help too.) If you've already got 4 inches grown out, taking the time to let it fully grow out might be the best bet.

Moms of Multiples: What is your best advice/tips when caring for your babies?

What is your best advice/tips when caring for your babies? Please no rude answers. Thanks.Moms of Multiples: What is your best advice/tips when caring for your babies?
Make sure mommy gets plenty of rest. As a result you are more focused on your babies. Also look up internet offers. There are tons of free things available for mommies of multiples. My sister got tons of free formula, cases of diapers, wipes, clothes, many free jars of gerber and a free diaper genie as well as bottles. She finds it easier to care for her triplets in she has her day schedualed out. She also makes and freezes meals while her babies are sleeping so she doesn't have to cook everynight. That's more time to be with her babies!Moms of Multiples: What is your best advice/tips when caring for your babies?
I have twins - here is my advice . . . don't let people scare you especially if these are your first children. We only have twins so we don't know how much work one kid is . . . we just know how much work two is!

Do what you can to get them on the same schedule - we made sure to get our twins on the same feeding schedule and the rest fell into place. That means that when one is awake and needs to eat, wake the other and see that both are fed at the same time or back to back. If you don't you will be feeding them all hours of the day without any sort of routine.

Build your support system - family, friends - make it clear that mom and dad are in this together. My husband learned to feed, change and put to sleep a baby as we were in this together.

Shop smart - buy things on sale, sign up on the websites for coupons - Enfamil, Similac or Gerber if you are going to formula feed, Pampers, Huggies etc . . . watch for sales, buy in bulk (we have a membership to BJs - one of those warehouse stores), let people know that you are open to hand me downs and shop consignment stores.

It is ok to let them cry for a moment. With multiples, you are often out-numbered. If the baby is safe, clean, dry, fed and not hurt . . . you can let him or her cry for a moment while you catch your breath or tend to the other child. I am not suggesting that you let them cry for a long time . . . just prioritize and breathe for a minute now and then.

Know that it gets easier - as they get older, their brother/sister is a constant companion and playmate so while it is a lot of care when they are newborns, when they are older they have each other to entertain.

    Multiples are such a blessing!
It's not twice the work, - but only about 50% more work.

Get the support you might need, -from neighbors or family.

It took about 13 months for the twins to sleep thru the night, - daddy had the night shift, - until about 3:00am.

    They're 4 (B/G) now, - watching TV before school.

Whats the best advice when driving in snow?

Is it high gears or low gears? i can't remember.Whats the best advice when driving in snow?
Use the highest gear possible without stalling. The science behind this is that starting out in a lower gear, the wheels spin very fast, so you won't get as much traction.

With a higher gear, the wheels turn slower so you will get more grip.

If you start skidding in snow, don't brake hard because you will skid even more. Ease your foot off the accelerater and try to ride it out - don't turn the wheel too much either.

Driving in snow and ice just takes practice. Good luck!Whats the best advice when driving in snow?
slow speed in a high gear.

you are less likly to get wheelspin like this.

also if you dont have ABS tap your brakes glently to feel that you've got grip when braking rather than braking normally.this also stops skidding
Just make sure that you drive slow, I always keep my lights on if it's snowing kinda bad, and my dad works at Good Year and every winter he gets my mom %26amp; I good snow tires. The one year he forgot hers, she almost wrecked, so I think it helps out. They can be expensive I know, but call around and compare prices.

Other than that, just try and focus on the road and people driving in your periphial vision. Good Luck :D
You need the highest gear possible under the conditions. It doesn not mean that you have to crawl everywhere in 5th gear. You may only be able to reach 10 or 20 MPH so you would be better off using 2nd or 3rd gear respectively, so that your wheels take less revolutions.
How about snow tyres? I don't mean Town and Country.

High gear. A higher gear than normal - try starting in 2nd. instead of 1st. I think it has to do with torque - but even Jeremy Clarkson doesn't understand what that means. Has to do with power transferred to the wheels. I heard you had 2 inches of snow in the UK, so I suppose life has ground to a halt. Sorry - I have lived in Switzerland for over 30 years.
    DONT

if do very slow, high gear... forget 2 seconds behind try 10, wiggle stearing wheel to test grip, use snow cahins... avoid it if you can.

carry survival kit in car if not in a city ie heating, food, communications, sleeping bag, flashy light etc
Keep your RPM's low. The higher the RPM it doesn't matter if you are high or low gear, when the gears catch you will slip.
lower gears and foot of the gaspedal1 don't be in a rush take xtra time to get where you need to be . I always make sue my car is gased up to and have xtra balnkets in the trunk flashlight ,cellphone charger etc
High gear, low rpm and slow. Whatever you do, try not to spin the wheels. Go very slow around corners.
high gears low revs if u skid turn in to the skid . your natural instinct is to turn away but u must turn in to it
Just drive slow %26amp; be careful!
get th gears up high asap, keep speed down, and never turn to hard, you start to skid if you do.
High gears and go easy on the brakes.
Its not about high gears or low gears. Its about being in the right gear at the right time. Drive slower, turn a little sooner if its quite slick and the best of all... follow a sanding truck.
slow and be gentle on the brake and acelerator
high gears n slow . i was out in the snow n as i turned into my drive i put the handbrake up a bit n the back of the car jus lost it lol i wont do that agen. unless itz in a safe environment like car park!!!!! lol
Drive like you normally do, but drive much slower, and do NOT apply the brakes otherwise you may go sliding.
Low gear, drive slow, but the best advice would be to pull over unless you have decent visability....
drive real slow make sure you have a blacket incase u get stuck %26amp; something hot to drink

4/5th gear should b just righr oh %26amp; watch other peoples driving to
    High gears.

slowly accelerate/brake as sudden changes in speed on icy roads will easily cause you to lose traction.

When in deep snow-DO NOT STOP-unless you have too.

It can be very difficult to get a vehicle moving in deep enough snow. Most people who get stuck in the snow get stuck when they stop.

Just take it slow and steady with as few stops as possible.
First thing to do is to slow down. Most drivers are stupid idiots anyway and try to drive at the same speed in a blizzard that they do on dry pavement, and then wonder why they end up in a ditch or wrapped around a telephone pole.

I have found that when driving up a snow covered hill if you have an automatic transmission the best thing to do is to put it in L or the lowest gear you have and creep up the hill like a snail. Usually the problem in this situation is that if you attempt to go up a snow-covered hill the the car will fishtail and spin out of control when the transmission shifts.

Unfortunately, most drivers are too stupid when it comes to driving in snow and don't seem to get it.
in the low or lowest gear and take your time
    high gears and slow hun...
High cuz it has less power than the jerky power of low gear..Dont 4get to wear a sunglass aswell
low and slow if you start spinning then put in higher gears
I'm not suprised there are so many accidents when I read some of the replies.

For a start, snow varies according to temperature, and the most dangerous snow is the warmer, wet, sloppy stuff. With colder snow, you get far more control and grip.

    Everything depends on the vehicle.

If it is four-wheel drive, the chances are you will be able to get moving without too much difficulty, even using low gears. With just front-wheel drive, you need to use a very delicate throttle, because the moment the wheels spin, you have no steering control whatsoever. If you have a rear-drive car (now quite rare) you need to have the right tyres fitted, or you are going nowhere when you get to the first hill. (The exception to that rule are rear-engine cars, but not ones with very wide-wheels like a Porsche.

Old Beetles were good on snow).

Choice of gears is not THAT important, but use of throttle IS. Too much and you spin the wheels in almost any gear.

A small amount of wheel-spin doesn't matter, but always remember to back off if you want to steer a front-drive car.

The biggest problem is actually stopping; especially down-hill, and if a road has frozen to shiny ice, you have a problem. Snow is also very slippery of course, and if going down-hill, it is always a good idea to drive with the nearside wheels almost in the gutter, where grit and small stones tend to collect. That extra bit of bite can be a life-saver in an emergency.

Now for something contentious,,,,steering in to a skid. That CAN be fatal, because skids always happen in straight-lines, and that can mean driving head-first into lamp-post or solid object. YOU ONLY STEER IN IF YOU HAVE A CLEAR EXIT. In fact, it is probably SAFER to allow a car to spin rather than to steer into a disaster situation, because spinning a car around on snow is the quickest way to stop it, due to the fact that the forward momentum is changed into centrifugal energy.

Braking is critical, because it should be done gently and smoothly, with any gaps between you and the car in front at least doubled, and preferrably tripled. Noit only does this allow more braking space, it also allows steering space if that is a better option when an accident is about to happen.

Most cars now have ABS brakes, which do not allow wheels to lock under braking, but in spite of that, they will under about 20mph or so. A locked wheel has less braking force than an unlocked one, and this is why ABS was developed. Also, locked front wheels cannot steer.

For those who do not have ABS brakes, there is a method of allowing steering and braking, called ';cadence braking,'; where the right foot pumps the brake pedal up and down rapidly; thus allowing the front wheels to lock and unlock, and therefore steer and brake at the same time. It sound difficult, but it isn't really, and IT WORKS.

Always make sure that you can see where you're going. Glass mists up much easier in snow, so make sure that the windscreen has heat going to it, and that the wiper-blades are clear of frozen, compacted snow. If necessary, get out and bang them on and off the windscreen, to break up the ice.

Lights also get covered in snow, so periodically clear the snow from them at nightime, or you end up with light going everywhere, which can be blinding to yourself and other drivers.

If the snow is deep enough to drift, that is both a hazard and a safety feature, because there is nothing stops a car quicker than a snowdrift, and usually without damage unless it is frozen solid.

It's better to plough into deep snow than hit something else on the road, and it will not hurt you unless there's a large boulder lurking underneath it.

Unfortunately, we don't get enough snow these days, and so most people have little experience of it.

For those of us who learned how to cope 40 years ago, when snow could be 15ft deep where I live, it was something you had to learn how to do. As a 17 year-old, I used to find deserted car-parks and practiced whenever I could. The biggest problem to-day is cars fitted with tyre which are far too wide, which are absolutely hopeless on snow. I used to have a set of narrow, knobbly winter-tyres, which were superb.

Now I drive a very large truck, and I quite like snow.....but only when everyone else is in bed and safely off the roads. I still find it fun and quite a challenge.

One final tip if the snow persists and you live among hills. The BEST THING IN THE WORLD for getting grip on snow, are woodchips. So if you can't get going, get that bag of garden woodchips out of the boot, and scatter them in front of the driving-wheels.

    You'll get going again!
First, make sure you have chains or snow tires on your car. High gear, slow speed, avoid sudden braking...ease into stops. And don't travel by car unless it's absolutely necessary. Don't worry, the snow won't last long.
    High.

Also avoid handbrake turns near lamposts!
High gears, not much gas, use engine braking as much as is realisticly possible to slow down, keep your distance, avoid sudden braking and sudden steering.

    Only go out if necessary!

    Keep it safe.

    Take care.
Drive in a higher gear than you would normally, this reduces the chances of wheel spin. For slowing, use engine braking. Change gently down through the gear box as there will be less chance of skidding compared to normal braking.
Iss climb fast decend slow, Use High gear to stop wheels skidding, and maek control easy but if front wheel drife go downhill in neutral.

If ou haf hill ant no skid chains or snow tyres attack it, lots of revs cos you need momentum to cover slippy bits, get speed agen when is grip. In mi cuntery snow is problem cos cannot se ruts, but soon get like drife snow, is fun powerslite ant that but it hurt wen crash.

Whats the best advice for new tattoos in direct sunlight?

I just got a tattoo on my ribs, it is just line work being that it is a quote so its just black ink. no colors. Is going to the beach a week later with really high spf sunblock on it completely out of the question? I dont have to go in the water at all, that wouldnt bother me, but is it a really bad idea to be at the beach for a long period of time?Whats the best advice for new tattoos in direct sunlight?
With this tattoo being so new(one week old) I would not recommend it. My tattoo guy usually recommends at least 2 weeks before leaving it exposed to the sun for any length of time.

Wear a shirt to cover it. After two weeks , use a high SPF lotion to maintain the intensity of the colors.Whats the best advice for new tattoos in direct sunlight?
The sun is a big no-no for still healing tattoos - you shouldn't even put sunblock on it while it's still healing! Just don't go to the beach or, if you do, make sure to cover up the tattoo entirely. And be sure to be following the after care instructions to a T. Once your tattoo is completely healed and no longer has that shiny look to it, then you must start wearing a high SPF anytime your tattoo will be exposed to the sun for any amount of time.
I would say yes, this must be your first tattoo.

When i got mine on my foot, obviously it was all in the sun and it burned so so bad.

You may be able to take the pain but bring a tank top or something and wear if it's starting to irritate it.

Or maybe if the sun is more to the right, lay your tattoo side away from the sun.

I wouldn't put sunblock on it, but ask your tattoo person. I would think it would have a higher chance to get infected but i'm not sure, just a guess.
if its only small, put a little bandage over it while ur at the beach. i had a mate that had his tatt in direct sunlight 4 only a couple of hours and it started 2 blister and faded..

but umm.. instead of putting sunscreen on it. do u know what 'pawpaw ointment' is?? its at ur local chemist, in a little red tube.. its really good and helps heal ur tatt alot quicker!! use that instead of sunscreen.

but yeh, just put a bandage over it..
yes, try to cover it as much as possible.

use sunblock for sure but if you're not swimming try to wear something like a sarong around you so it's not exposed but try not to use a towel.

that could irritate and scratch the tattoo if its fairly new.
Id give the beach a miss unless your wearing a tshirt, you dont wanna mess you nice new tattoo up!

    Answer mine please?

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
you could use a barrier cream but sunblock is not recommended. keep a shirt on or something as this will reduce the fading from exposure to sunlight.
Even with a shirt over it, it is not a good idea to be in the sun at this point.
This is a question for your artist. As most artists will do touch ups for free... as long as you follow THEIR aftercare instructions.

What could be the 7 best advice, training or activities for young males (17-27yrs old) to prevent violence?

Should parents, teachers or employers spend more time and effort detecting signs and counselling persons liable to commit suicide or mass shootings? And should the law be revamped to allow private persons to owning only a restricted number or type of arms? What could be the 7 best advice, training or activities for young males (17-27yrs old) to prevent violence?
The most important factor that helps people avoid crime and gang activity is to give them a stake in society. When people don't feel that society is about them and that there is no place for them, they are forced to create a new meaning for themselves, and a lot of the time that meaning is negative. Establishing traditions of public service, revitalising culture, and making sure there are productive community things for them to be involved with would reduce these kinds of problems markedly.

  • What can I do with my grill chicken breasts? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?

I grill over 15 pieces of chickend breats this afternoon. There are about 10 left. What can I do with it? What kind of dish can I make out of this?

I also have fried anchovies and herrings. What can I do with this also?

Thank you very much. What can I do with my grill chicken breasts? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
You can cut up the chicken and make a salad. Romaine lettuce, tomato, onion and cucumber. Toss it up add some dressing and you have a great meal. The herring I'm not wild about but the anchovies you can use as a garnish for the chicken salad.Your making me hungry!!!

ENJOY.What can I do with my grill chicken breasts? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
you can put it over a salad or make an alfredo with it. saute that with olive oil and minced garlic..then add broccoli and plimento and chicken.

and place that over pasta with an alfredo sauce
Try making a delicous sandwich. Or a wrap ( just like mcdonalds ) . Maybe serve it with rice or mashed potatoes. That's all i can think of. Maybe look up an online cookbook. Maybe you can be charitable and donate it to a soup kitchen ( before it spoils! )
    curry chicken salad (lunch)

    shread 1 or 2 breasts

    3 tbs mayo

    add curry to flaver

you can also add apples and or walnuts too

Chop 4 breasts into cubes and place in the freezer in a freezer ziploc to top salads or to make fajitas at a later date

    stuffed chicken breast (dinner)

Pre make 1 box of stove top stuffing (cornbread is my fave but whatever flavor you like)

fillet 2-4 breasts almost in half and place 2 spoons of the stuffing in the fillet then place the top of the breast back on. (I stick a toothpick in the cut chicken to hold it together).

Poor 1 can of cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup over the top and bake 35 minuted at 350 degrees
    chicken salad!
I would freeze some of the chicken to use at a later time. You could dice it up and save it for when you make a recipe for chicken.

Also you can make a yummy chicken salad.

Or buy some wraps or tortillas and a bag of salad with the dressing in the bag, mix up the salad, add the chicken and voila yummy easy chicken wraps.
slice up cold chicken, mix minced jalapenos in mayonnaise and spread on a wrap, lay chicken slices on with diced tomatoes, leaf lettuce, and shredded monterey jack cheese, roll up....Greatest sandwich/wrap ever!

Divide beans and chicken mixture evenly across 6 tortillas, top each with some of the cheese (use approx 4 ounces), and roll into burritos. Place in baking dish spray lightly with PAM (helps keep burritos from drying out).

Heat in 350 degree oven for 10 鈥?15 minutes, 20 minutes if refrigerated. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top and heat another 5 minutes.
to use all of this up i would make a super cheesy lasagna.

chop all the leftovers then combine put them in the tomato spaghetti

sauce of your choice, let them set for a while (better over night). then make the lasagna as normal, layering each with a lot of chedder and ricotta cheese. cover the top with only the sauce until it it cooked (about 350 f for 1-1/2 hour, you can tell by the smell, ummm) then put more cheese on top of the

meal and let it melt in the oven (maybe less than 2 minutes, just keep an eye on it) . pop it out and let it sit for at least 5 minutes to cool, then have at it.
Add some of them to a pot of Jambalaya.

Chop some of them in chunks and make chicken salad.

Cube some of them and make chicken and rice soup.
Make a nice wild rice and chicken salad. It is a great main dish. Cook up a batch of wild rice. Then, cool it off in refrigerator. When rice is cold add chicken breast cut in to nickle size pieces, one can sliced water chestnuts, one and a half to two cups red seedless grapes. Mix one and a half cups sour cream and one and a half cups mayonnaise. Stir these into the wild rice, chicken and grape mixture. Then if you like and this is (optional) add a cup of cashews. Then mix well, cover and refrigerate. It is ready to serve.
Dice and freeze for later in small packets. Grilled chicken is the best addition to Santa Fe Chicken soup, recipe at:

Chunk it all up and store it in a plastic bag for future use, In salads, mixed with rice,in stirfry, with blackbeans, and also garbanzos. Then you can always cover it in cheese and pour over the mac and cheese you make.
Make a nice chicken salad with walnuts, grapes, celery ,onions and mayo(or blue cheese dressing), salt and pepper. Good in pita bread too.

Your best advice for someone writing a novel?

I'm beginning to work on a novel. This is my first real attempt at one. Anything important to keep in mind while writing it?Your best advice for someone writing a novel?
The best advice I can give you is this.

    Just sit down and write.

Now, for further help..always tell your story as you want. don't be consistently asking if this is a good story line, plot or whatever. This shows that you don't really have an idea of what you want to write. Or you will get those who will hate your idea and tell you so, maybe influencing you not to write what you want. It's fine to ask what people think of a story..but don't plan your writing on whether people love it or not because you might only get a few who read it..then don't like it for some reason and you stop...missing out on writing the best thing anyone has every read! Read every critique with an open mind, even harsh ones. learn from them but don't cry over them. all writers, good or bad, get them at one time or another. I've sent stuff out, got refusals but only posted them on my wall. Still writing!

Remember when putting work out there to be read, even a rough draft, doesn't mean putting out misspellings and bad grammar. To get good feedback, people need to be able to read your work. They won't bother if they are confronted with a mass of bad grammar and misspellings, no paragraphs and mixed dialogue with other things. (Just critique one like that)

Always remember that the reader does not know what is in your mind..make sure things make sense, read them out loud if you have to. Be sure and do any research well. If your writing about a certain city, and use landmarks and such, be sure to know these places well. Readers will know and point those out as mistakes.

but the main ting is just write the story you want to tell. that is your job as a writer.

Just write!Your best advice for someone writing a novel?
Keep on writing. It may help to write down and create the setting, the characters (and the characters' back stories), and a rough sketch of what the plot is going to be. Many fantastic authors write without planning out the plot (Douglas Adams always made his stories up as he goes), but if this is your first novel, it'd be good to have an outline. This way, you have set goals to reach.

Also, if you want it to be a good novel, you'll prolly need to edit it 5 thousand times. Rough estimate.
    Hey

Well firstly good luck and hope it goes well ;)

I'd say it's always best to write when you get inspiration and you feel like writing. So you get the best out of yourself.

Polish up on any areas you think you are weak in e.g. vocab, spelling or grammar

You don't always have to plan the full the novel as soon as you begin - just let it ... flow

They always say write for yourself- read in the view of yourself not another reader

And they also say 'Show not tell'

Um, what else? I suggest you take the 'Mary Sue' test for characters- you would not want one of those

You should try and make an interesting beginning, something that will grab the readers attention

That's all I have for now

    Hope I helped

    xx
Have a background to all the characters (even if it's basic or vague) to give them another dimension. But don't give the reader too much information too quickly. Keep the characters in character, don't suddenly change a shy character to a loud one etc. Make sure you spread out the plot so it isn't all told in the first few chapters.

    Good luck =D
    1) Keep your characters believable! In all ways! Make them react real. If you have to observe kids to see how a kid would react, do it.

    2) DON'T FORGET TO RE-WRITE!!!! I wrote my first novel in 1st person and realized I didn't like it. Yes, I re-wrote the entire 400 page book in 3rd person. AND I've re-written different parts since then too. You have to re-write. Even if you like some parts, if they're not for the greater good, take them out.

    3) Give enough description to keep the reader interested, but don't go over the top.
    -Point of view

-give the character personality, make them real as you can, b-days, middle names, etc. stuff that may or may not make it into the book.

-write it all the way through before you read it

-make sure the tense stays the same.

-write down all the main things so you don't forget them later.

if i think of anything else, ill email you.

    Good luck
Keep your characters real, don't write things that aren't their personality. Write as much as you can (at first it might take you a while to write a lot, but don't worry, it will get better) and develop the plot. :)
Shoot yourself while you're still happy. (Thanks to Dorothy Parker).

Actually the best advice is to read a ton of whatever kind of book you're thinking of writing. Go to the library and get recommendations.
Write every day. Force yourself to get SOMETHING down on paper, even if it's cr*p. You need a first draft before you can perfect it into a well-written novel.
Write a lot and read a lot .

What best advice can you give to this prob of mine regarding a couple of dogs?

I just gave someone a couple of pups for her birthday. However, she has a problem taking care of them since she is working night shift in a call center, her sister and brother are both in school in the daytime, same with her mom who is at their small business shop almost the whole day (her dad is working abroad). This leaves their home empty most of the time and no one would be available to take care of the pups during the day.

The pups aren't newborn anymore. They've graduated from being noisy and active little ones and they've grown a little already. What advice can you give so that it would be easier for her to take care of them without the pups affecting each family member's responsibilities?

Hope for a lot of answers! Thanks in advance. =)What best advice can you give to this prob of mine regarding a couple of dogs?
I sure hope you had permission to give these pups to your friend.

One puppy is a handful--two is twice the work.

Obviously people who have busy lives still have dogs--generally the breed of the dog is an important consideration.

Small lap dogs are better than a larger high energy dog when the owner is busy.

That being said--all puppys need care and attention or there will be behavioral issues down the road.

The best answer is to place these dogs with owners that have that time. I am assuming the rest of the family does not want to pitch in?

In order for her to keep these pups she needs a schedule and help from her family.

Puppys should be crate trained in the beginning but still there needs to be someone who can come home and let them out at reasonable intervals.

This can be done but only with help and there is no way two pups will not effect the other family members. What best advice can you give to this prob of mine regarding a couple of dogs?
I don't think it is possible. Whoever is home first needs to deal with the pups and make sure they are taken care of. Poor guys... why did you give them to her?
puppies are like infants, they disrupt the whole family until they get the routine down and grow up. I think you made a mistake. I have bred my dogs before. I only sold to people who were home a lot. If you aren't home, you shouldn't have animals. Why not ask the family to let you place the dogs elsewhere, once they grow up, no one will want them. good luck
Maybe you should offer to watch the dogs while she is at work..that way you know that the dogs are being taken care of and you can manage their behavior and habbits...If the dogs dont make it out side and get play time, they are going to start becomming distructive. For example, getting into the trash, chewing on things, going to the bathroom in the house and so on. So this way you can watch them while she is gone and ensure they are being taken care of. Besides you brought them in to the world and so you should care about their well being.

What would be the best advice you could give me on moving from Ohio to Amsterdam?

I am 28 years old. I have finished 2 years of college. I have a fluent backround in cooking at restaurants. I am self-motivated. I would like to move to Amsterdam. I am Dutch. My great grandparents are from Holland. How much are apartments there. Are there jobs availiable? Would it be easy to find an apartment? Would it be hard getting a citizenship there? Are groceries and other basic necessities expensive? I need some info. Thank you. What would be the best advice you could give me on moving from Ohio to Amsterdam?
Get ready for a culture shock.

Recently, the Dutch government has required that new immigrants watch a vido so they fully understand what life is like in Amsterdam. This idea arose because of the problems they were having with Muslim immigrants who were horrified to find out that drugs are available, and prostitution is legal. Oh yeah, and they probably didn't like seeing two women or two men kissing in public either.

Jobs are available if you are talented. Apartments are not so easy to find anywhere in Europe, and they tend to be both small and expensive.

My best advice is: take a two week vacation there first. Get away from the tourists areas. Rather than stay in a hotel, which just gives you a false impression of the real city life, try to stay with a family or friend. Visit some restaurants and see what they have to say about job prospects. You're mining for information, so don't be shy. What would be the best advice you could give me on moving from Ohio to Amsterdam?
Pack yer bong dude!! Amsterdam kicks ***..its beautiful and I think you will love the laid back attitude. Go for your dreams and have fun!! If you don't like it, you can always come back. Travelling for work is awesome, you never know where you will end up as you meet people, you might get offered a better job, in say Italy or something..just go for it!!
Whew. From the topic title, not knowing you were Dutch, I was going to tell some basic differences re Dutch vs US law - an American could get quite mmm surprised. Maybe you already know then about the Napoleonic Code I can only describe in short as shoot first, ask questions later. Not at all like the common law you'd be more familiar with, even procedurally different. Don't forget, no jury.

I'd probably just google Amsterdam about accomodations, food. I kinda know some from there %26amp; other places in NL but not in contact right now.
When my sons were in the Army they were stationed in Germany. On weekends twice a month they would travel to Amsterdam to party and visit friends. They said they had a good time but not sure they would want to live there. They said the area they were in is not as clean as the United States. At their age they thought it was fun and even considered going back some day but not to live there. There are a lot of things you would need to be aware of before you settle down there. Let's put it this way. It's nothing like OHIO so you better keep trying to get information before you make a decision like this.
Once when I lived in Northern California we had a Dutch couple who were visiting the United States. They had a rental car and they were on their road trip up the coast. Anywho, I was just at the gas station having a smoke when they asked me if I would please put air in their tires because they didn't know how to do it. LOL I willingly did it for them for free. They looked so cool and they had a thick accent. They were around their 30's. Obviously they had money that's why they can afford to travel to the States. They were driving a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero. LOL, I still remember it like it was yesterday. I suppose most people don't have cars in the Netherlands. They just ride their bikes, walk, or take public transit.

  • What's your best advice for studying for exams?

    * Read over your notes

    * Try to make questions out of things %26amp; answer them

    * On the exam. Do what you kno first then do things you might kno then do things you dont kno last. I'm pretty sure it will help you.

What's your best advice to getting back to your natural hair color...?

  • Whats the best advice for new tattoos in direct sunlight?
