What is your best advice for getting through the common cold?

Teas? Meds? Tell me what works for you, please. What is your best advice for getting through the common cold?
There are many different things you can do to ease the cold. Try drinking lots of Tea for example some ginger root tea. To make this you will want to boil about 4 cups of water. Get a 2'; chunk of ginger and peal off the peal. chop it up into small slivers and put it in the boiling water. you will want to then turn down the heat and put a lid on the pan and then let it simmer for 10 to 15 min. Its recommended to not use sweetener, but i know for me i have to have a little bit of honey.

Next a lot of people swear by garlic. I know... ewe... but it does have a lot of healing properties. Some say you should make a tea with it, but i say that is gross, so just take one clove of garlic, peal off the husk, and cut it in to small chunks, DO NOT CHEW! this will lead to bad breath. just swallow the garlic with water like tacking a pill.

My last recommendation is sweet lemon tea. My mom used to make this for me all the time when i was little and sick. She would boil some water put it in a glass with a whole lemon and some honey to sweeten it. I always felt better after drinking that tea. and it still works to this day, even though i have to make it my self now. What is your best advice for getting through the common cold?
Have to agree with Hogie. Zicam is amazing, as long as you start taking it at the first hint of symptoms.
I HAVE A COLD , EYES WATERING , COUGH , FEVER ..NOSE RUNNING , SNEEZING !! HAD BRONCHITIS IN OCTOBER , NOW THIS! LOL
Drink plenty of water, buy some vitamin C tablets. Sometime when I didn't have money for cold products I would make my own little concoction and now thats all i do. I don't even buy the theraflu stuff any more. I put a cup of water it the microwave with some drops of lemon juice and about 3 cough drops and drink it. sometimes I add some liquid cough medicine too. It helps soothe my cough and my throat better than anything I have ever bought.
take a nice hot bath and put a wash cloth in the water and put it over your face so it will let the steam go thru your nasal passage.
A lot of fluids (unless you are on fluid restriction program ), rest, and vitamin C will help. Try it!!!
lots of fluids, Tylenol, Good cold medication, and lots of rest
Zicam

as soon as you get that little tickle in your throat or nose start taking it right a way.

I can't believe how well it works.

only problem if your are already really sick it's too late.
Chicken noodle soup is PROVEN to work! Also, keep comfy by taking a tylenol to keep fevers and aches and pains at bay. Rest as much as possible.
Take something like NyQuil to help you sleep, and pile on so many blankets you can't move.
