In the fall, I will be a graduate student in math. I am taking an undergraduate analysis course, as well as a graduate-level statistics course, and a graduate-level algebra course. Anything you think I should know? What is the best advice you can give for someone who is starting graduate school?
Your current courses should prepare you well, and by now you should have the study habits you need, so you will be well prepared.
An attitude I have seen on the part of some students is that they can cram for the final and ace it and then forget the course content. I think you have already discovered that this does not work in mathematics. You have to learn it and retain what you have learned. What is the best advice you can give for someone who is starting graduate school?
They have graduate level algebra?
%26gt;.%26lt; I can not imagine it getting any harder than it is now in 8th grade.
James P said what I was going to say... although not so colorfully.
I think you should take this time to really solidify your hard work thus far.
Work hard now and you will not have to later on.. it is a hard lesson to learn later if you did not do the work before you had commitments and responsibilities.
So Keep your nose clean, your head in the game and your out look to the horizon.
Good Luck and Con Grats a bit early.
Be prepared to work TWICE as hard. Learn to schedule your time to allow for a heavier work load but still allowing yourself to live.
Thats great. Study hard, F U C K later. is what i suggest. Keep your brain in the books and your head out of the puss.
