We've been together 8 months, and are going to be in 10th grade, well...we're insanely in love, talk on the phone for about 2 hours each night, hang out each weekend, but i'm moving 45 mins away and don't want to grow apart from him. tips?What is your best advice for sustaining a long-distance relationship?
Letters!
Not mushy ';I love you, I miss you, I need you'; letters, but sweet, friendly letters that say, ';I'm interested in your day, your likes and dislikes, and your hopes for the future.';
You can tell him about what you're doing to keep busy this summer. Do you have a job? Do you go to the pool with your friends? Have you seen any good movies lately? What did you think of ';UP';? Are you learning anything new at home, such as cooking new foods or how to iron clothes? And so forth and so on.
The interesting details of everyday life will give him a clearer picture of you than emotional outpourings ever would. Putting pen to paper will give him something of you to hold on to and read over again and again.
I don't have to remind you to put nothing in your letters that you wouldn't mind having your folks or his folks read, do I? It would be so embarrassing to have private details bared to the world!
It's nice that you can get together for weekend dates, and you're lucky to have the kind of phone service where you don't have to mind your minutes. But my advice is, talk and sigh less, and correspond more.
